Pokémon Legends Z-A: How to Unlock Mega Greninja, Delphox, and Chesnaught
The Pokémon Company has officially confirmed that Mega Stones are coming to Pokémon Legends: Z-A, alongside three brand-new Mega Evolutions for the beloved Kalos starters: Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja. This marks the return of one of the most popular mechanics in the series and gives Trainers a new reason to battle, collect, and push their skills to the next level.
New Mega Evolutions for the Kalos Starters
Mega Evolution has always been a fan-favorite feature, transforming Pokémon into more powerful versions with enhanced stats, abilities, and designs. In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the Kalos starter trio receives their long-awaited upgrades:
Mega Chesnaught – Gains even greater defensive power, becoming a near-unstoppable shield in battle.
Mega Delphox – Combines fiery offense with heightened psychic prowess, delivering both flair and force.
Mega Greninja – With unmatched agility and precision, this form turns the ninja-like Pokémon into one of the deadliest attackers in the game.
These new forms not only look incredible but also expand the strategic possibilities for both casual players and competitive battlers.
How to Obtain Mega Stones
The newly announced Mega Stones are not found in the wild or through story progression. Instead, they are tied directly to Z-A Battle Club Ranked Matches as seasonal promotion rewards. Players will need to climb the competitive ladder to unlock them.
Greninjite → Season 1 reward (starting October 16, 2025)
Delphoxite → Season 2 reward
Chesnaughtite → Season 3 reward
This system makes Mega Stones more than just collectibles — they become symbols of achievement and skill. Trainers who want to unlock these Mega Evolutions will need to prove themselves in battle.
Key Details and Requirements
Each Mega Stone can only be obtained once. If you already have one, you won't receive duplicates.
A Nintendo Account and Nintendo Switch Online membership are required to participate in online play and receive rewards.
At launch, these Mega Stones are exclusive to Ranked promotion rewards and not available through other methods.
Why This Update Matters
This is the first time Mega Evolution has been officially confirmed for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, making it a huge moment for both returning and new players. Tying Mega Stones to Ranked rewards adds prestige and excitement to online battles, ensuring that these items are not only powerful but also rare.
For competitive players, Mega Greninja, Mega Delphox, and Mega Chesnaught will likely shake up strategies, providing fresh ways to approach team building. For collectors, these Mega Stones are a must-have milestone — proof that you've fought your way to the top of the Battle Club.
With Season 1 beginning October 16, Trainers everywhere will soon be competing fiercely to claim Greninjite and be among the first to showcase Mega Greninja in battle.
