What Are Mega Stones and How Do They Work?

What is Mega Evolution?

Mega Evolution allows Pokémon to temporarily transform into a more powerful form during battle. Each Pokémon that can Mega Evolve has a unique Mega Stone. This stone must be held by the Pokémon during battle to trigger the Mega Evolution. The transformation enhances the Pokémon's stats, changes its type, and sometimes grants new abilities. Mega Evolution can be a game-changer, so collecting all available Mega Stones is crucial to your success.

How to Use Mega Stones

1. Obtain the Mega Stone: Mega Stones can be obtained through story progression, Rogue Pokémon battles, or purchasing from various in-game shops.

2. Give the Mega Stone to a Pokémon: Once you've obtained a Mega Stone, open your Satchel and give it to a Pokémon that can Mega Evolve.

3. Activate Mega Evolution: During battle, if your Pokémon is holding the Mega Stone and you have enough Mega Power, you can trigger Mega Evolution.

How to Unlock Mega Evolution in Legends: Z-A

You will first unlock Mega Evolution after completing Main Mission 9. This mission introduces you to Mega Evolution by having you battle a Rogue Mega Absol. Once completed, you can access the Stone Emporium and Quasartico Inc., two major shops that sell Mega Stones. You'll also start encountering Rogue Mega Pokémon in specific story missions — defeat them to unlock their Mega Stones.

Key Locations for Mega Stones:

Stone Emporium (Vernal Avenue): The primary shop for buying Mega Stones PokéDollars.

Quasartico Inc.: A specialized shop where you can trade Mega Shards for certain Mega Stones.

Rogue Pokémon Battles: Defeat Rogue Mega Pokémon during specific main missions to unlock their Mega Stones.
