How to Get Mega Stones Fast in Season 9

This season is as simple as it gets.

Start at Rank Z, then push to Rank Y to grab your first Mega Stone. After that, every rank-up gives you another one all the way to Rank S.

You don’t need to grind high ranks or win every match — just climbing a few tiers already nets you multiple stones.

Outside of ranked seasons, these Mega Stones are hard to come by. If you’re missing key ones like Blazikenite or Greninjite, this is easily the fastest way to catch up.

Here's what you'll get as you advance:

- Rank Y: Greninjite (Greninja)

- Rank X: Delphoxite (Delphox)

- Rank W: Chesnaughtite (Chesnaught)

- Rank V: Baxcalibrite (Baxcalibur)

- Rank U: Sceptilite (Sceptile)

- Rank T: Swampertite (Swampert)

- Rank S: Blazikenite (Blaziken)

Tip: Even if you're new to Ranked Battles, you'll start at Rank Z and quickly earn your first Mega Stone as soon as you hit Rank Y. Don't worry about being a top-tier player—just participating gets you rewards.

Season End Rewards (by Final Rank)

In addition to Mega Stones, your final rank determines what rewards you'll receive after the season ends. Here's what's waiting for you:

Rank A: 3 Gold Bottle Caps, 5 Bottle Caps, 3 Seeds of Mastery, 1 Big Nugget

Rank B to Rank E: 2 Gold Bottle Caps, 3 Bottle Caps, 2 Seeds of Mastery, 2 Nuggets

Rank F to Rank I: 1 Gold Bottle Cap, 2 Bottle Caps, 1 Seed of Mastery, 2 Nuggets

Rank J to Rank M: 1 Bottle Cap, 1 Seed of Mastery, 2 Nuggets

Rank N to Rank R: 1 Seed of Mastery, 1 Nugget

Rank S and Below: 1 Nugget

What these items do: Gold and Silver Bottle Caps max out a Pokémon's Individual Values (IVs)—essential for competitive training. Seeds of Mastery let a Pokémon learn any move from its learnset instantly. These resources are extremely valuable for building your battle team.

Key Rules You Need to Know

To help you jump in without confusion, here are the essential rules summarized:

Eligible Pokémon: Lumiose Pokédex No. 001–227 and Hyperspace Pokédex No. 001–112. This covers most mid-game Pokémon you'll have access to.

Level Adjustment: All Pokémon are automatically set to Level 50 during battles—no need to grind levels.

Held Items: Pokémon can hold items, but you cannot have two of the same item on your team (for example, no two Focus Sashes).

Species Clause: You cannot use two Pokémon with the same Pokédex number.

Important: Because the eligible pool is limited to earlier Pokédex entries, some legendary Pokémon are not allowed. Focus on versatile Pokémon and those with Mega Evolutions.

Best Pokémon Picks for Season 9 (What Actually Wins Games)

Based on the eligible Pokédex and common competitive trends, here are some standout Pokémon worth considering for your team:

Blaziken (Mega Blaziken)

One of the easiest win conditions this season. After one Protect turn, Speed Boost kicks in and it starts snowballing fast. If your opponent lacks priority moves, it can clean entire teams.

Greninja

Still one of the most flexible picks. You can run physical, special, or mixed — which makes it unpredictable. Great for breaking defensive cores and forcing bad switches.

Sceptile (Mega Sceptile)

High speed + special pressure. Lightning Rod lets you punish Electric teams hard, and once it gets momentum, it’s difficult to stop without priority.

Goodra

Your anti-meta special wall. If you're getting destroyed by special attackers, Goodra stabilizes games and buys time for your win condition.

Garchomp

The safest “plug-and-play” pick. Strong, fast, and versatile. If you don’t know what to build, start with Garchomp — it fits almost any team.
