IconPokémon GO Shiny Gimmighoul Coin Bag Guide (Nov 2026): Coin Bag Dates & How to Unlock

category:Pokemon GO

Oct-24-2026     Source: PKMBUY

The Into the Wild 2026 event brings back a limited-time chance to encounter Shiny Roaming Form Gimmighoul through the Coin Bag. The shiny boost runs longer than the main event window, giving trainers extra days to hunt.

This guide covers the exact Coin Bag shiny window, how to unlock and refresh the Coin Bag with Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, the best farming routine, troubleshooting tips, and what you need to evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo.

Shiny Gimmighoul Coin Bag Event Window

Event Dates & Times (Local Time)
Shiny Gimmighoul Coin Bag Bonus Monday, November 9, 10:00 AM – Sunday, November 15, 6:00 PM
Into the Wild Main Event Monday, November 9, 10:00 AM – Friday, November 13, 8:00 PM

Important: The shiny Gimmighoul chance continues through the weekend (November 14–15) even after the main Into the Wild event ends on Friday. Plan your final Coin Bag sessions before 6:00 PM local time on November 15.

How to Unlock the Coin Bag

The Coin Bag is only available if you link Pokémon GO to a Nintendo Switch copy of Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet. Pokémon HOME, Let's Go Pikachu, and Let's Go Eevee do not work for the Coin Bag.

  1. In Pokémon GO, go to Settings → Connected Devices and Services → Nintendo Switch and start pairing.
  2. On your Switch, open Scarlet or Violet → press X → Poké Portal → Mystery Gift → Connect to Pokémon GO → Pair with a Pokémon GO account.
  3. Confirm the pairing when your Pokémon GO trainer name appears.
  4. In Pokémon GO, open your Postcard Book, select a saved Postcard, and choose Send to Nintendo Switch.
  5. Your first successful Postcard transfer unlocks the Coin Bag. To refresh it later, send a new, unused Postcard.

Daily limit: You can send only one Postcard per day (resets at midnight local time). The Postcard stays in your book but cannot be sent again. Stock up on extra Postcards before the event.

How to Farm Shiny Roaming Gimmighoul with the Coin Bag

  1. Wait until the shiny window starts (November 9, 10:00 AM local time). Activating the bag early will not give the shiny boost.
  2. Refresh the Coin Bag by sending a new Postcard if needed.
  3. Open your Item Bag and activate the Coin Bag.
  4. Keep moving for the full 30-minute duration. Walking or traveling significantly increases spawn rates, similar to regular Incense.
  5. Check every Roaming Form Gimmighoul that appears for the shiny variant.
  6. If you don't get a shiny, repeat the process on another day with a fresh Postcard.

Notes:

  • Regular Incense cannot extend or stack with the Coin Bag.
  • Coin Bag and other Incense-type effects cannot run at the same time.
  • A single 30-minute session is not guaranteed to produce a shiny. Multiple sessions across the event window improve your chances.

Can You Use the Coin Bag Every Day During the Event?

Yes. You can refresh and activate the Coin Bag once per day throughout the November 9–15 window by sending a new Postcard each day. Each activation lasts 30 minutes.

Troubleshooting: Why Isn't Gimmighoul Spawning?

  • Confirm the current date and time are inside the November 9–15 shiny window.
  • Make sure the Coin Bag timer is still counting down.
  • Verify you sent a brand-new Postcard for that day's refresh.
  • Keep moving — standing still greatly reduces spawns.
  • Check that your Nintendo Switch account is still paired under Settings → Connected Devices and Services.

It is normal to catch many regular Gimmighoul without seeing a shiny. Shiny encounters are random.

Evolving Shiny Gimmighoul into Gholdengo

Roaming Form Gimmighoul (shiny or regular) evolves into Gholdengo once you collect 999 Gimmighoul Coins.

You can earn Gimmighoul Coins by:

  • Catching Roaming Form Gimmighoul
  • Walking with Gimmighoul or Gholdengo as your Buddy
  • Spinning Golden PokéStops (created with Golden Lure Modules)

Collecting coins is separate from the Coin Bag. You can hunt your shiny first, then gather the remaining coins afterward.

Preparing for Into the Wild 2026

The main Into the Wild event also features Dynamax Regidrago in Max Battles, Dynamax Meltan in the GO Pass, increased Remote Raid limits, and other bonuses. Many trainers stock up on resources beforehand to avoid missing limited-time content.

If you want to expand storage, buy extra Raid Passes, or prepare items for the broader event, you can quickly top up PokéCoins through PKMBuy's secure service: Buy Pokémon GO PokéCoins

Use code PKMBUY7 for 5% off. Delivery is typically fast, and the process uses manual top-up methods designed to protect your account.

What to Do First

  • Pair your Switch (Scarlet or Violet) and send at least one Postcard before November 9.
  • Collect several extra Postcards so you can refresh the Coin Bag on multiple days.
  • Plan 30-minute walking sessions during the shiny window (especially November 9–15).
  • Decide whether you also want to focus on Dynamax content or raids during the main event days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need both Scarlet and Violet?

No. One copy of either game on a linked Switch is enough.

Does the shiny chance last the full 30 minutes?

Yes, as long as you activate the Coin Bag while the November 9–15 bonus is active.

What happens if I activate the Coin Bag right before the window ends?

New spawns after 6:00 PM on November 15 will not have the shiny boost. Finish your final session before the cutoff.

Can I use the Mystery Box instead?

No. The Mystery Box works with Pokémon HOME and spawns Meltan, not Gimmighoul.
