Pokémon GO’s Harvest Festival: Applin Picking begins Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time and runs through Monday, October 5, at 8:00 p.m. local time. The event introduces Shiny Applin for the first time, while Shiny Smoliv has an increased chance of appearing during the same period.

The event also gives Apples a bigger role through Mossy Lure Modules, adds branching Timed Research with three Apple paths, and introduces a free GO Pass: Harvest Festival with Rank bonuses tied to Applin and event progression.

Shiny Applin makes its Pokémon GO debut during Harvest Festival: Applin Picking. Applin can appear in the wild, while Apples attracted by Mossy Lure Modules can also lead to Applin encounters.

Shiny Smoliv is also featured during the event with an increased chance of appearing. Niantic does not announce a separate boosted Shiny rate for Applin, so Trainers hunting Shiny Applin should focus on checking as many Applin encounters as possible.

How to Find More Applin

Harvest Festival offers several ways to encounter Applin.

Wild Encounters: Applin can appear alongside event Pokémon such as Skwovet, Lechonk, and Smoliv.

Mossy Lure Modules: During the event, Mossy Lures attract Apples. Tapping an Apple can reward a Tart Apple, Sweet Apple, or Syrupy Apple, or trigger an encounter with featured Pokémon including Applin and flower-crown Cottonee.

Field Research: Event-themed tasks can also provide encounters with featured Pokémon.

These options give you more chances to check Applin, but Niantic does not state that any of them directly increase its Shiny rate.

Which Apple Each Applin Evolution Needs

The Apples collected during the event are also used for Applin’s different evolutions.

Choose Your Apple in Timed Research

The event’s branching Timed Research gives Trainers three paths to choose from. Each path provides a different type of Apple:

Choose the path that matches the evolution you are working toward: Tart Apples for Flapple, Sweet Apples for Appletun, or Syrupy Apples for Dipplin.

The Timed Research expires at 8:00 p.m. local time on October 5, so complete the tasks and claim the rewards before the deadline.

GO Pass Rank Bonuses for Applin Hunters

The free GO Pass: Harvest Festival becomes available when the event begins. Trainers can complete Pass Tasks to earn GO Points, increase their Rank, and unlock additional rewards.

Three Rank milestones are particularly relevant:

• Rank 1: Applin has an increased chance of holding a Tart Apple, Sweet Apple, or Syrupy Apple when caught.
• Rank 10: Mossy Lure Modules activated during the event last for one hour.
• Rank 20: Trainers earn more Stardust from defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts and Leaders.

For Applin-focused players, Rank 1 and Rank 10 are the most directly connected to the event’s Apple and lure mechanics.

GO Pass Rewards and Claim Deadline

Beyond the Rank bonuses, the GO Pass reward track includes event-themed Pokémon encounters, Apples, Mossy Lure Modules, a Super Rocket Radar, and other items.

The free GO Pass is available during the event. Trainers can also purchase GO Pass Deluxe for US$4.99 or GO Pass Deluxe + 6 Ranks for US$6.99.

GO Pass progression ends at 8:00 p.m. local time on October 5, but unlocked rewards can still be claimed until 8:00 p.m. local time on October 7.

Harvest Festival: Taken Over (October 2–5)

The final days of Applin Picking overlap with Harvest Festival: Taken Over, which runs from October 2 at 12:00 a.m. through October 5 at 8:00 p.m. local time.

The Rocket-themed event introduces Shiny Shroodle, while Shiny Slugma has an increased chance of appearing. Team GO Rocket will also appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons.

Trainers can use the Super Rocket Radar earned through GO Pass: Harvest Festival to track down Giovanni and work toward Shadow Zekrom. Event Field Research can also reward Fast TMs, Charged TMs, and Mysterious Components.
