IconPokemon Legends Z-A — Z-A Royale Guide

When night falls over Lumiose City in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, red holographic gates light up and Trainers flood the streets. This marks the beginning of the Z-A Royale, a thrilling city-wide competition where you battle your way from Rank Z to Rank A.

What Is the Z-A Royale?

The Z-A Royale is a city-wide challenge that takes over Lumiose after dark. Each night, Battle Zones appear across the city — fenced off with glowing red energy barriers. Inside, Trainers roam the streets, ready to fight. Your goal? Earn Ticket Points to collect Challenger's Tickets, win promotion matches, and climb the ranks from Z to A.

You can rest on benches around Lumiose to skip straight to nightfall and dive right back into the action. Each night in the Royale is your chance to earn money, medals, and rare rewards — and every victory brings you closer to the top.

1. Hunt Down Every Trainer You See

Battle Zones are filled with opponents — on rooftops, hidden in alleys, even lurking behind debris.
Fight as many Trainers as possible before sunrise. The more Trainers you defeat in one night, the higher your end-of-night multiplier, which boosts your total Ticket Points and prize money.

If you're aiming to rank up fast, this multiplier is everything — the best Trainers fight until dawn.

2. Use Stealth to Gain the Advantage

Sneaking isn't just for catching Pokémon anymore — it's a battle tactic.

Crouch behind cover, sneak up on a distracted Trainer, and launch a back attack to strike first. You'll deal bonus damage and can sometimes wipe out the opponent's first Pokémon instantly if your move is super-effective.

Many Bonus Cards even reward stealth-based plays, giving you medals and bonus points for pulling them off. Use shadows, obstacles, and timing to control the pace of every fight.

3. Choose the Right Bonus Cards

Bonus Cards are glowing collectibles scattered throughout the Battle Zone. Each one gives you a mini-mission — like defeating enemies with specific move types, using a Mega Evolution, or sneaking up on Trainers. Completing them gives you extra points, medals, and Ticket rewards.

You can carry up to three cards at once, so choose wisely:

Pick challenges that match your team's strengths.

Avoid cards that require move types you don't have.

At higher ranks, look for high-value cards with five-figure point rewards — they're worth prioritizing.

4. Take On Stronger Trainers

As your rank increases, you'll start seeing Trainers with ranks above your own — like a D-rank Trainer facing off against a C-rank.

They're tougher, but defeating them gives massive rewards.

Bring your strongest Pokémon, use Mega Evolutions or Plus Moves, and don't hold back. Many Bonus Cards also tie rewards to defeating higher-ranked Trainers, making these riskier battles the fastest way to climb the ladder.

5. Don't Panic — Know When to Retreat

If things go wrong, don't hit "Give Up." Doing that costs points and medals.

Instead, you can walk away — literally. Withdraw your Pokémon, move out of range, and the fight will end safely without penalties.

You can also exit the Battle Zone via the red gates or by fast travel. You'll keep all your points, medals, and rewards. When you're ready, return stronger and finish what you started.

6. Master Real-Time Battle Mechanics

Z-A battles happen in real time — no more turn-based waiting.

You and your Pokémon move freely, attacking and dodging on command.

Keep these key mechanics in mind:

Dodging: Moves like Bounce, Dig, or Fly make you untargetable for a moment.

Movement: Flame Wheel or Waterfall propel your Pokémon forward — perfect for dodging and repositioning.

Status Effects: Poison, Burn, and Sleep remain deadly tools.

Mega Synergy: Your Mega Ring charges faster when you're near your Pokémon — stay close during fights.

Real-time combat rewards awareness and timing. Master it, and you'll crush Trainers before they can react.

7. Heal, Prepare, and Stay Sharp

You can leave any Battle Zone at any time to heal at Pokémon Centers or restock items.

Carry plenty of Potions, Berries, and status cures to keep your Pokémon fighting through the night.

Don't want to catch or train your Pokémon yourself? You can visit PKMBUY to get ready-to-use Pokémon and build your team instantly.

Get ready, Trainers — when the red gates rise, your legend begins.
