Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: All Main Storylines Explained

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet use an open-world story structure with three main paths: Victory Road, Path of Legends, and Starfall Street. After completing all three, The Way Home becomes available and concludes the base game's main story in Area Zero.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC adds two additional story chapters, The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk, with new locations, characters, Pokémon, and lore.

How Many Main Storylines Are in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

The base game has four main story paths:

After earning all eight Badges, you face the Elite Four and Top Champion Geeta as part of the Champion Assessment. Passing it completes the Victory Road storyline.

Path of Legends – Find Herba Mystica

In Path of Legends, you help Arven search for five types of Herba Mystica, each protected by a powerful Titan Pokémon.

Defeating Titans also unlocks new traversal abilities for Koraidon or Miraidon, including swimming, gliding, and climbing. These abilities make it easier to reach different areas of Paldea.

The storyline also reveals more about Arven and the mysteries connected to Area Zero.

Starfall Street – Take Down Team Star

Starfall Street centers on Team Star, which is divided into five squads across Paldea.

To clear each base, you must defeat waves of Team Star Pokémon before battling the squad leader and their Starmobile.

The storyline gradually explains Team Star's origins and the events that caused the group to leave the academy. Penny and Director Clavell also play important roles.

The Way Home – Explore Area Zero

After completing the three main paths, The Way Home takes you into Area Zero with Nemona, Arven, and Penny.

The area contains mysterious Paradox Pokémon and research stations connected to the Great Crater's secrets. Scarlet features ancient Paradox Pokémon, while Violet features futuristic variants.

The story eventually leads to the Zero Lab, where the major mysteries of the base game reach their conclusion.

The Indigo Disk

The Indigo Disk takes place mainly at Blueberry Academy and its Terarium.

The story features the BB League, Kieran, Carmine, and Professor Briar before returning to Area Zero. Players investigate Terapagos and learn more about the time machine, Paradox Pokémon, and the mysteries surrounding the Great Crater.

Which Storyline Should You Complete First?

There is no required order for the three main paths.

For easier exploration, Path of Legends is a useful early choice because Titan victories unlock new Koraidon or Miraidon abilities. Players who prefer traditional Pokémon progression can start with Victory Road.
